Once developments are complete or buildings acquired or occupied, the skills of Chartered Building Surveyors are again essential to the ongoing occupation of a building.
The vast majority of commercial or industrial buildings in the UK are occupied on a leasehold basis and therefore owners or occupiers have to contend with the liabilities imposed by either government legislation or leases and deal with such matters as dilapidations, licences to alter, fit-out work, leasehold maintenance obligations and duties at termination of a lease.
